About Me
My interest in photography began over 25 years ago when I received a Praktica camera for my birthday. This quickly grew into a passion when I successfully passed a number of City & Guilds courses covering Basic photography, Black & White printing, Image Derivation, Portraiture and Photo Essay. I continued to gain experience by fulfilling the requests of family and friends to photograph their children and weddings. Having never photographed a wedding before, and knowing that you can only do it once, I was petrified but really enjoyed it. I think every photographer should photograph a wedding at least once. Following a well-received exhibition at Fareham Library I then moved into glamour photography which I concentrated on for several years. With the transition to digital photography my work has gained creativity and experimentation. I now predominantly shoot wildlife, nature, still life and special effects. Over the past three years I have focused on competition work. I have won, and been placed, in a numerous range of regional and national competitions and been awarded a few trophies. A number of these award-winning prints have also been featured in publications such as Photography Monthly, Professional Photographer and Digital Camera. My enthusiasm for photography, and desire to share with others, has lead me to conduct a number of workshops for local 'A' Level photography students and provide practical sessions at my camera clubs. In April 2014 I was elected Chairman of Upminster Camera Club. Shortly after this I was awarded a Licentiate Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) following a rigorous assessment process. This International recognition of my work was a huge honor and a great personal achievement. I also credit my wife, for her continued support throughout the process, and my mentor Richard Walton (FRPS) for his guidance and advice.
