About Me
Noor Ahmed Gelal was born in 1977 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completing his graduation he attended a basic course on Photography from a local Institute of Photography in Dhaka. He also participated numerous workshops as continuous professional development under reputed photographers like; Hasan Saifuddin Chandan, Dr. Rashidunnabi Shuvro, Roman Bezjak, Steve Fraser, etc. Gelal took up professional photography in 2003. His major interest includes; Travel, Cultural, Social Issues, Nature, etc. His works have been published in so many prestigious national/international newspapers, magazines and books like;The Daily Star, The Star Insight, The Samakal News Paper, The Prothom Alo, IFC (International Finance Corporation) World bank Group, ILO Pilot Survey Report 2010 (USA), aday.org Stockholm, Sweden, IPW 2013 (Indonesia), Taiwan, see.me, etc. He took part in so many exhibitions home and abroad. His works have been displayed in the following major exhibitions: Musee du Louvre, 75058 Paris - France, July 13th, 2015 Turkey September, 2015 2015 Kaohsiung International Photographer Exhibition, Taiwan Travel Photographer Asia, Black Box Map, Publika Solaris Dutamas, Kualalumpur, Malaysia IPW (International Photo Week 2013) Indonesia City Scapes and Urban Mutation by GOETHE INSTITUT (Germany) A Decade of the National Geographic Contests; a commemoration of Prince Naris Day 2014 (Thailand) and China. He participated in the following National and International Photo Contests and was awarded prizes in different categories: 1st Place in People-Culture, Honorable Mention in People-Culture, Honorable Mention in Editorial-Other- from the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2015 Religions in the World Photo Competition, Turkey 2015 UPI Silver Medal/ GPU Silver Medal Bronze Medal Sille Sille Palace Art / Art Gallery Sille Sille Bronze Medal BSPA Colors of Life (International Photo Contest) FIAP Bronze Medal 2014, BSPA (Freedom) PSA Gold National Tourism Board Photo Contest Award 2010 Celebrating Life Award 2011, 2013, 2014 from Bangladesh (Organized jointly by The Daily Star and Standard Chartered Bank) and Humanity Photo Award (HPA) Organized by China Folklore Photographic Society and UNESCO, China 2013.
